Magnesium: the miracle mineral

Let’s talk MAGNESIUM! My all time favourite can’t go a day without nutrient!

Magnesium is an electrolyte and essential mineral that is used in over 300 chemical reactions in the body. Quite important!

Our magnesium intake has declined over the years. Unfortunately, these days our soil is deficient in magnesium, which means our food is deficient in magnesium, therefore we as humans may become magnesium deficient.

There are endless benefits to magnesium, including:

- Maintains a healthy heartbeat

- Maintains healthy brain function

- Helps muscles relax

- Lowers blood pressure

- Improves blood sugar control

- Improves sleep quality

- Helps combat migraines

- Helps reduce symptoms of depression

- Can help reduce constipation

This is the #1 supplement / nutrient I recommend to my clients, but especially those living with fibromyalgia.

I take anywhere from 350-700mg of magnesium per day, between magnesium malate, bisglycinate and foods. I find it helps reduce my fibro muscle pain, fatigue and relaxes me into a deeper sleep.

Magnesium comes in capsules, powder, liquid and you can also add magnesium flakes to your bath, or use magnesium spray or cream on your body.

If you’re experiencing a flare up of your symptoms, especially pain and stiffness, taking magnesium, and adding it to your bath can be quite helpful.

Magnesium rich foods include: dark leafy greens, avocado, banana, papaya, blackberries, nuts and seeds, legumes, peas, corn, potatoes, dark chocolate, yoghurt and quinoa.
